ChatGPT’s app directory, country by country

ChatGPT’s directory is not one catalog. The same anonymous request returns a different list depending on which country it comes from, so every app here is counted with the countries that can actually see it. Read alongside Claude’s connector directory, which is a single global list and needs no such caveat.

3,075 of 3,475 apps are visible from every country swept. The 266 below are the opposite case — one country, nobody else. They are overwhelmingly national infrastructure: insurance comparators, job boards, banks, rail and streaming. This is the part of ChatGPT’s catalog that has no equivalent in Claude’s.

ChatGPT exposes two mechanisms, and only one of them describes a capability. An app can publish Skills — named tools, each with a description written for the model (“Use when the user needs to…”) — or it can simply be an Apps SDK app, in which case the directory says one exists and nothing about what it does. An app with no Skills has not told you it does nothing; it has told you nothing.

Travel is the category that discloses least. 94% of its 310 apps ship as an Apps SDK app with no published tool list, against 32% in developer tools — where 244 apps name their tools outright. Every major travel brand in the directory is in the opaque group: Booking.com, Tripadvisor, trivago, Viator, GetYourGuide, lastminute.com, Marriott, Hilton, Accor, Skyscanner, Priceline and Omio all publish zero Skills and exactly one Apps SDK app. The travel apps that do name their tools are small and independent — Nowistay (9), AuroraReach (5), Kismet (4). On Claude the same brands name theirs — Tripadvisor exposes compare_hotels, hotel_details, search_hotels; trivago two search tools; Viator two.
