L’Étape du Tour 2027, Cluses to Les Saisies
154 km and 4,850 m of climbing through the Aravis and the Beaufortain, over five climbs, with a summit finish at 1,650 m. The race has not happened yet, so this page holds the course, a finish-time estimate built from past editions and a pacing planner. After 11 July 2027 it becomes the results explorer, like 2026.

How long it should take
Across the 6 editions timed on chip time (2019 to 2026), the median finish time follows distance and climbing closely: a fit on those two numbers alone predicts each edition it was not trained on to within 5 minutes on average. Applied to 2027:
| Edition | km | Climbing | m per km | Median time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2027 · Cluses → Les Saisies | 154 | 4,850 m | 31.5 | 9h22 (expected) |
| 2026 · Le Bourg d'Oisans → Alpe d'Huez | 170 | 4,550 m | 26.8 | 9h55 |
| 2025 · Albertville → La Plagne | 131 | 4,550 m | 34.7 | 8h13 |
| 2024 · Nice → Col de la Couillole | 138 | 4,600 m | 33.3 | 8h33 |
| 2023 · Annemasse → Col de Joux Plane | 145 | 4,100 m | 28.3 | 8h27 |
| 2022 · Briançon → L'Alpe d'Huez | 166.8 | 4,700 m | 28.2 | 9h42 |
| 2019 · Albertville → Val Thorens | 135 | 4,563 m | 33.8 | 8h27 |
Climbing figures are the organiser’s. Editions before 2019 are left out of the fit because they were ranked on gun time, which adds each rider’s wait in the start pens. Weather is not in the model: a hot or wet day moves the median by more than its error.
One climb has been raced before: the Col du Pré
The 2025 Étape climbed the same 12.6 km from Beaufort, at km 103 of a 131 km day. These are the times of the riders around each finishing place, the median of the eleven riders within five places of it.
| 2025 finishing place | Col du Pré | km/h | Finish time, 2025 |

| 10,000 of 13,649 | 1h31 | 8.3 | 9h17 |
In 2027 it comes at km 104 of 154, with the Colombière, the Croix Fry and the Forclaz de Queige already in the legs and Bisanne still to come. A rider who finished around 5,000th in 2025 went up it in 1h14. Every 2025 time on the Col du Pré.
