La Marmotte Granfondo Alpes 2021 — the full results, rider by rider
174 km, finishing at the top of the Alpe d’Huez. This explorer indexes the edition’s timing data: 1,807 classified finishers, timed at 7 mats, a leaderboard for each of the 5 timed sections, and a page for every rider.
Postponed to 4 September 2021. The source is a starters list, so there is no entrant count for this edition.
Times from this edition are not comparable with the other years in the archive. Nothing on this site ranks them against each other.
Every rider has a page: the split at every mat, the time on every section, and both clocks side by side.
How to read these numbers
Two clocks, and only one of them ranks
Every rider on this course finishes with two different times. Gross is what their own computer showed: start mat to line, everything included. Net subtracts the neutralised section — col du glandon descent — and it is the net time the classification is built on.
The arithmetic is exact: 5:56:04 gross minus 29:46 of credits is 5:26:18, the time this ride is ranked on.
The section nobody races
The Marmotte freezes the clock on its dangerous descents and credits the time back, so in the official classification it lasts zero seconds. No leaderboard on this site crosses one.

When did the field finish?
Finish times in 5-minute buckets, from 5:26:18 to 13:05:00 — the median finisher took 8:58:18.
The bars count every rider with a finish time, which is not quite the classified field: someone who reached the line but was left out of the classification keeps a time and loses the rank. Here the two agree: 1,807 riders in the chart, 1,807 classified.
The cols, timed
Each climb is timed between two mats and ranked on its own.

“Classified timed” is an exact count of classified riders with a time on that section, over the 1,807 classified — a section needs both of its bounding mats, so a missed read drops a rider from it without affecting their overall result.
Rankings at every mat
7 timing mats, and the percentage beside each is how much of the classified field it actually caught. They are rarely equal, and a mat that missed a chunk of the race makes a partial ranking — its own page says so.
Percentages are exact counts of classified riders with a read at that mat, over the 1,807 classified. The start mat reads 1,959 chips in total, but every rider’s clock starts at zero there, so it carries no ranking. Some mats on this edition carry no published course distance; their km reads “—” and no speed is computed into or out of them.

The codes are the timekeeper’s own for this edition; each one is a bracket by year of birth, and the vocabulary is not shared with the other years in the archive. 3 classified riders carry no category at all and have no band page; they are not in the grid below, and they are still in the overall results.

The first-name championship
The ranking nobody asked for: which first name got the most riders to the top of the Alpe in 2021.
Other editions
A reminder before you compare: 2021 was not run on the same course as the other years, so a faster time here is not a faster ride.
About this project and its data. The results are ChronoRace’s — the official timekeeper of the event. They were fetched once after the event and republished here with segment times, recomputed leaderboards and a page per athlete that the official results do not offer. The timing is their work; the analysis is mine, and any mistake in it is mine too. Course details come from La Marmotte Granfondo Alpes, the organiser. Athletes who asked to be anonymous in the official results stay anonymous here.
