This is a personal website. Most of it is research about hotels and AI search and holds no personal data at all. The exception is the race results explorers under /projects, which republish the official results of running, cycling and triathlon events, and so contain the names of the people who took part. This page explains what that involves.

Who is responsible

Nicolas Sitter, an individual based in France, is the data controller. Write to nicolas.sitternolleau@gmail.com for anything on this page.

Race results

Where the data comes from

From the official results published by each event’s organiser or timekeeper, who is named on every explorer page. Nothing is collected from you directly, and nothing is bought or obtained from anyone else.

What it contains

What the official classification contains: name, bib number, sex, age category and, where the timekeeper publishes them, nationality, club, intermediate split times, finish time and ranking. The statistics built on top (pacing, comparisons, category and first-name rankings) are computed here.

Why, and on what basis

To make race results searchable and comparable, and to publish statistics about the events. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): the results are already published by the event, are a matter of public record for the participants, and the explorers add analysis rather than new information about anyone.

What is done to limit it

  • Pages about one person are not in search engines. Individual athlete pages carry a noindex instruction, so searching for your name does not lead here.
  • Races are not linked to each other unless you ask. Your results in different races stay separate. If you want them listed together on your page, use the “Link my races” button on it, or write to the address above.
  • Under-18 results carry no name. A result in a cadet or younger category is shown as an anonymous line, with no bib and no athlete page.
  • Anonymous stays anonymous. Anyone the timekeeper lists as anonymous is anonymous here too.
  • Removal on request, described below, usually the same day.

How to have your name removed

Write to nicolas.sitternolleau@gmail.com with the page address or the race and your name as it appears. Every athlete page also has a button that prepares the email. Your name and bib number are then removed from every race on this site where they appear, and from any race imported later. Your time and rank stay as an anonymous line so that the race totals and averages remain correct. That line no longer names you, but someone holding the official results could still match it to you by its rank and time, so it is fair to call it pseudonymised rather than anonymous.

To keep honouring the request after the next import, a short record of it is kept: the race and bib, or the name, that must not be published. It is not public and is used for nothing else.

This site is a copy, not the source. Removing your name here does not remove it from the organiser’s or timekeeper’s own results. To have it taken down there, ask them directly.

How long it is kept

For as long as the explorer for that race is online. Removal records are kept for as long as the results they apply to.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction of or removal of data about you, and you can object to it being published, by writing to the address above. You will get an answer within one month, and in practice much sooner. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
