QuakeIndex
ClaudecommunityLive earthquake data from USGS: what just happened, what happened near a US ZIP code or town, "was that an earthquake?", and whether activity is normal for a place.
Voitto Virta LLC
QuakeIndex answers earthquake questions from USGS data, with the age and source of every answer attached. Six read-only tools: - latest_earthquakes: the most recent earthquakes worldwide or in the US, by minimum magnitude and hours back. - earthquakes_near: earthquakes within a radius of a US ZIP code, town or coordinates over the last 1 to 365 days, with distances and the largest in the window. - was_that_an_earthquake: for shaking someone just felt, answers yes (with the event), not_yet_reported (small quakes take minutes to be catalogued, so this is not a no) or no, and links USGS Did You Feel It?. - place_activity: the QuakeIndex score for a US state or county, ranking the last 7 days against that place's own 10-year history, with the normal range for a week. - earthquake_details: one event by USGS id or event URL, including every revision QuakeIndex observed ("magnitude revised from 4.1 to 3.9"). - largest_on_record: the largest earthquakes in QuakeIndex's copy of the USGS catalogue for a state, county, town or ZIP code. Every result says when the feed was last confirmed and flags stale data, and every event links its QuakeIndex and USGS pages. QuakeIndex describes recorded activity only: it does not predict earthquakes or issue warnings, and results name ShakeAlert and MyShake as the sources of early warning. Free, no account, no sign-in. Data is public-domain USGS data, ingested every 30 seconds by QuakeIndex (Voitto Virta LLC).
