China Footnotes
ClaudecommunityChina travel facts and local tips, sourced and dated
Will Wang
Much of what you need to visit China lives in Chinese apps such as RedNote, WeChat and Dianping, hard to reach from outside China. China Footnotes reads them and brings two things together for the places it covers. Checked facts: opening hours by weekday and season, ticket prices, booking channels and whether passports work, last entry, metro exits and taxi cards, and notices in effect, each with its source and the date it was checked. And thousands of practical tips, many of them firsthand reports from people who have been there, often Chinese travelers and locals on RedNote: suggested routes, when to beat the crowds, which entrance to use, what to eat nearby, scams to avoid and what to expect. It also covers pre-trip setup: when to go, visas, paying, internet, apps, booking ahead, getting around and safety. Gaps are marked as not found rather than guessed. Read-only; no sign-in, no bookings.
